Adel Corn Festival

This year I didn't get many pictures at the Corn festival because Aubrey wanted me to hold her a lot and Mike was away for 6 weeks on his audition rotations in California, Oklahoma, and West Virginia. But if you want to see what the Corn festival looks like you can see pictures from last year here or here . It's kind of neat to see how much Morgan changes from year to year. Thank goodness her hair has grown back. :)

This was our 3rd time going to the Adel Corn Festival and it was by far the best weather. Usually it's humid and so hot that you almost, and I stress almost, don't want eat piping hot corn.

The parade was fun and I even managed to convince Aubrey into letting me put her down long enough to have her grab some candy. She loves food so it was good motivation.

We were worried that there wouldn't be a corn festival this year because of the terrible drought that we had this summer. The crops in Iowa were down 50% and we thought they wouldn't be able to give away sweet corn. But I found out that there is land set aside especially for the corn festival. Even with the drought they still had 8 tons of corn to give out. Unlike years in the past where people could get as much corn as they wanted, they limited the corn to two ears per person. Morgan gobbled her two up in about 5 minutes and loved every bite of it. Aubrey ate good amount but wasn't really a fan of corn on the cobb i guess. She opted to having a Popsicle instead.

Sad to think this will be our last corn festival here in Iowa. It's been a fun and yummy tradition! :)
