Friday Night is GAME NIGHT!

Since we moved to Waukee, we have established a well loved tradition with our friends the Coombs and the Pettits. We all live on the same side of the street and right next to each other. So, we thought we'd test the limits of our baby monitors and have game night on Friday nights.

Let me just say that I LOVE this tradition. We play games, we have treats, we laugh and we cry (from laughing). As it gets later we laugh more; probably due to a combination of deliriousness and all out goofiness. Someone's competitive nature occasionally rears it's ugly head (MIKE), but mostly in jest.

We have less than a year left of this tradition and that makes me sad to think about. We've grown so close and this unique situation that we are in will be gone before we know it. Many say that surviving medical school as a spouse is hard, and it is at times, but I must say that it has been wonderful because of the people that we get to share these experiences with.

St. Patrick's Day

Let me start off by saying that I don't normally celebrate St. Patrick's day. I'm not one hundred percent sure what it is that we are celebrating on that day (I gather it has to do with St. Patrick). :)But, it can be fun, especially when you have kids. Today we started the day off with our friends who had a St. Patrick's Day breakfast with green pancakes, and green milk, and other cute St. Patrick's day themed things. I didn't get any pictures, but trust me, she doesn't do anything that isn't cute.

Afterwards we convinced our husbands to take us to the St. Patrick's day parade. It was fun! The highlight of the parade for me was the HUGE Irish guy in a kilt, (I swear he was a giant), and the bus that was made into a convertible. And, what would an Iowan parade be without some tractors!

We've had some great weather here in Iowa! The winter was mild (so I hear) and the spring has come early. Today we took advantage of the warm weather and the girls ran through the sprinklers with our dear friends and neighbors the Coombs. We have been very blessed with good friends and I especially feel very fortunate to have met so many wonderful people. I don't know what I would do without them!

Visit from Gma and Gpa Rode

Mike's parents and our niece Makayla came to visit us for a little while. Morgan and Makayla were pretty much inseparable and they had a lot of fun together. I think what Morgan liked best was borrowing Makayla's clothes and accessories. Such a girl, but I have to admit it is fun to try new clothes, even if they aren't yours. We did a lot of fun things like bowling, and going to a jumpy place. While we were at the zoo, the red panda stood up on it's hind legs and was looking at Morgan and Aubrey. They thought that was pretty cool.

The girls had so much fun with Grandma and Grandpa while they were here and wished that they could see them more often. It was so nice of them to fly out here and visit.
