Last trip with the VanderVeen's

My sister and her family that live here in Iowa will be moving to Washington state soon, which makes us sad, but also very happy for them. Hopefully we'll end up there too some day in the distant future.

So, we decided to do a day trip to Pella, Iowa together and it was so fun! Pella is a little Dutch town in Iowa that has yummy bakeries, windmills, and pretty tulips in the spring. We walked around looking in shops, and we had lunch at a small restaurant there. Afterwords, we took the kids to a fun wooden playground that they have there and we spent a good hour there.

Mike trying the wooden shoes. They were almost the right size. :)

Trying to decide what to get at the bakery was the hardest part. There were so many good things to choose from. But, it looks like there were two very satisfied customers!

Finally, since it was close, we went to the Red Rock Dam to see Iowa's biggest lake. We ended up watching people fish. Morgan and Makayla were pretty impressed with one guy who caught about 10 fish in the 30 minutes we were there. It was a good day and we were glad to have spent it with my sister and her family. We'll miss you guys!
