Mike's 29!

Wow, Mike is 29! One more year and he will be the big 3-0! This year we celebrated Mike's birthday the day after his actual birthday because he had been on a really busy rotation. We invited a few friends over for cake. Since Mike isn't a huge fan of cake, I made him an ice cream cake because he loves ice cream. :) It turned out pretty yummy.

Looking at pictures of his birthday this year I can't help but remember his first birthday that we celebrated after we had been married. We had been married about 9 months and a friend of Mike's asked if we could house/dog sit for his future in-laws. It was a super nice house and we thought it'd be fun to kind of play house in a real house and get out of our 500 square foot basement apartment for awhile. We were in charge of two dogs and they liked to sleep in bed with the owners usually. So we tried that the first night and we got no sleep. The second night we were determined to get some sleep, so we put the dogs downstairs and they barked all night long. Mike's birthday fell on one of the days we were there and I didn't have anything to decorate the cake with, so it didn't look all that great, but at least it tasted yummy. Flash forward to now; I am so grateful to all the birthdays and experiences we have shared together. We've traded two dogs that kept us up all night for two beautiful girls who have their daddy's eyes among other things. I couldn't be more happy! Happy birthday Mike! I love you.
