Aubrey got to meet her Grandpa and Grandma Rode for the first time and it was such a nice visit. Morgan sure kept them busy and as always had a lot of fun with all the extra attention. :) She got her first "pencil crayons" or colored pencils from them and has been coloring ever since. It was really funny because she would ask to color as soon as she would get up and she has done such a good job coloring.
While they were here we went bowling and it was Morgan's first time going and she loved it! However during the times where her attention span wasn't so great she would be dancing to the music in the bowling ally. Too bad bowling costs money because I think Morgan would love to go bowling a lot more.
Also Mike's Mom really wanted to see the bridges of Madison County and where John Wayne was born. It was only 40 minutes away so we took a little trip and it was quite fun. We left early that morning in order to beat the snowstorm that turned out to be our little blizzard. It wasn't anything Mike's parents couldn't handle though, they are from Canada after all. :) Even though I've never seen a movie with John Wayne or seen the movie Bridges of Madison County, the trip was really fun and interesting. Since it is the middle of winter we got a special tour of John Wayne's home by a man who actually knew John Wayne. John Wayne was 13 pounds when he was born in 1907. Ouch... John Wayne only lived in Iowa until he was 7 and then moved to California because his mom needed to live in a dryer climate due to illness. The tour guide said that John Wayne had been in 160+ films or roles in his entire career. Those are just some of the things that I wanted to remember from the tour. According to the guy who gave of the tour, John Wayne was very down to earth and humble considering he was a huge actor in his day.
We had a lot of fun with Mike's parents here and I'm glad that they were able to meet Aubrey while she's so little. She's going to change so much between now and when we see them next.
